Genesis Chapters 1-40

Right now I am reading through Genesis. I have realized that I have never read through the entire Bible and God has impressed upon me the importance of doing that so I am not going to read any other books until I get through His Book. I got a new Bible in the mail on April 24th. I had one from the time I was a child and it was falling apart so this is my first Bible since I have taken to Bible living rather than just Bible believing. I started with the Psalms as I have already said. Since getting done with them I have read 1 Corinthians, Philippians, and Romans. Now I have jumped back to Genesis because I bought this book that I would highly recommend called “Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation” I found it in the kids section of my local Christian book store and it has been fascinating! One of the most interesting things I found out by reading that book was about the Chinese language having Biblical origins. Here is a website that explains http://www.wbschool.org/chinesecharacters.htm

What I have learned so far from Genesis (some of this I’m sure most of you already know but I am new to) First, it didn’t rain and we didn’t eat meat before the flood. There was a layer of water “above the firmament” that kept the worlds atmosphere like a greenhouse. So I assume when God makes a new earth this is how it will be? I guess it is not Gods perfect plan for us to eat animals but (I can only assume) because of the damage to our atmosphere caused by the flood and the continental divide we now need to. One other thing from the creation book that was interesting was that there was a timeline of the lifespan of men from Adam to Jacob. I noticed that the lifespan of man shorted by about half after the flood and again by half after the continents divided. Did you know that the Bible speaks about the dividing of the continents? Genesis 10:25, “And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided;”

I was also interested to learn that tithing goes way back before Jewish law. In Genesis 4:4 Abel is told to have brought the first of his flock. “And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:” And ten percent is established in Genesis as well. Genesis 28:22, “And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.”

I also found another reason you cannot believe in the inerrancy of scripture and evolution (maybe someone else has noticed this before but I haven’t) Six times during the creation God said that His living creations would bring forth offspring after their own kind. It is as if God put that there just for those who would try to change His word to fit “science” falsely so called. (1Tim 6:20)

I have to say that I won’t be posting those long, in-depth studies as often as I have been in the past. I love doing them but I am a mother and have a part time job. One of the things the Lord showed me over the last month is that doing my own personal things on company time is stealing. I was researching and writing these papers at work when I had finished my work and had time left before I had to go home. The Lord told me this was wrong and that since I was being paid for that time I should find something to do for my employer if I get done early. I also have added some things to my schedule here at home in keeping with what the Lord wants of me. My serious Bible studying is to be kept to the morning and evening. During the day I am to focus on my families needs (with the exception of naptime). I am going to attempt to keep my house in better order for my husband and do drop everything at the top of every hour to spend 15min filling my kids love tanks. During nap time I pray for about 20 people and before bed I pray for my personal needs. So as you can see I won’t be able to spend as much time on this blog. When I come across something I wish to share with you I’ll be sure and post it they probably just won’t be so long anymore.

2 Peter 3:3-7, Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
